OOTD: The Drawstring Pant

Drawstring pants get a bad rap!  They can be too slouchy, considered uninspired sportswear, and they can look like PJ’s if not done right.   Yet, when styled correctly they are the quintessential bottoms for summer to help you keep cool and look chic.   They are perfect to wear to a backyard BBQ, or as a casual outfit for restaurant dining, and a natural choice for a beach party.   Also, if you are not ready to commit to structured pants–drawstring pants are the perfect non-constrictive stylish pant!

Here are some styling tips to help you get this look right:

-offset its voluminous shape by pairing with a form-fitted top and tuck the top into your pants

-the ideal length should hit just above the ground or hem to where your toe meets your foot

-the fit of your drawstring pant should not be too loose or too tight

-select a high-heel wedge for a dressier feel

-wear a double-roll cuff for a beach look (best to roll the bottoms of your pant legs up about 1.5 to 2 inches (you don’t want the roll to be too thin or too thick)

Here are the details to my look:

Pants: Vince (currently on sale at Nordstrom)(fits true to size)

Tank Top: Ralph Lauren (fits true to size)

Earrings and Matching Cuff: Hermes (from previous seasons)

Wedges: Alexandre Birman (fits true to size)
